LINKS TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES

...because connected services are important

Links to Community Support: Features

PRESCHOOL SPEECH AND LANGUAGE

In Huron and Perth Counties you can access smallTALK for provincially funded services.

Grey and Bruce Counties are serviced by Thames Valley Children's Centre.

SCHOOL AGE SPEECH AND LANGUAGE SERVICES

It is important to know that for school age children, services are delivered by two separate service agencies.

Language services are provided by your local school board (Avon Maitland and Bluewater).

Speech and fluency services are provided by an agency outside of the school board. These agencies hold special contracts that allow them to provide services within the schools. Thames Valley Children's Centre currently holds this contract in our area.

ADULT SPEECH AND LANGUAGE SERVICES

Adults require speech and language services for a variety of reasons. The following community resources are available:

The South West LHIN (Local Health Integration Network ) Home and Community Care provides healthcare services at home and in the community, and can assist those considering supported living programs or long-term care options, or requiring home and community care services.

The Community Stroke Resource Team for Huron and Perth Counties helps to provide specialized expertise, coordinated teamwork and a personalized approach to supporting stroke survivors in their communities. If you live in the Bruce-Grey Area, your local stroke centre is the Owen Sound Hospital. They provide Emergency services and support stroke survivors discharged into the community or to other facilities.

Certain types of Alzheimer have communication difficulties associated with them. The Alzheimer Society can provide information, education, and support.
